Evaluation of calcium phosphate coating on biodegradable Mg–Al–Zn–Ca alloy formed under ordinary conditions on temperature and pressure

نویسندگان

چکیده

Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) coating was formed on the surface of Mg–Al–Zn–Ca alloy (AZX612) by anodically oxidized and subsequently immersed in a supersaturated aqueous solution containing calcium ion under ordinary temperature pressure. The OCP layer consisted both inner fine crystallites outer large crystallites, remained even after ultrasonication process. In simulated body fluid, AZX612 treated with anodic oxidization subsequent process showed higher corrosion resistance than those only oxidization.

RGDC Peptide-Induced Biomimetic Calcium Phosphate Coating Formed on AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

Magnesium alloys as biodegradable metal implants have received a lot of interest in biomedical applications. However, magnesium alloys have extremely high corrosion rates a in physiological environment, which have limited their application in the orthopedic field. In this study, calcium phosphate compounds (Ca-P) coating was prepared by arginine-glycine-aspartic acid-cysteine (RGDC) peptide-ind...

Alternative technique for calcium phosphate coating on titanium alloy implants

As an alternative technique for calcium phosphate coating on titanium alloys, we propose to functionalize the metal surface with anionic bath containing chlorides of palladium or silver as activators. This new deposition route has several advantages such as controlled conditions, applicability to complex shapes, no adverse effect of heating, and cost effectiveness. A mixture of hydroxyapatite a...

Micromorphological effect of calcium phosphate coating on compatibility of magnesium alloy with osteoblast

Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) coatings were developed to control the degradation speed and to improve the biocompatibility of biodegradable magnesium alloys. Osteoblast MG-63 was cultured directly on OCP- and HAp-coated Mg-3Al-1Zn (wt%, AZ31) alloy (OCP- and HAp-AZ31) to evaluate cell compatibility. Cell proliferation was remarkably improved with OCP and HAp coatings whic...
